Renaming Haliburton Place

After community consultation, the long-term care community Haliburton Place, located in Hants Community Hospital, has been renamed Mayflower Meadows.

The new name better reflects the community it serves and moves away from the use of the Haliburton name because of its association with the racist and misogynistic views and values espoused in Thomas Chandler Haliburton’s writings.

Thanks to everyone who sent in a suggestion for the new name and congratulations to Jenna Warren-Mayer for suggesting Mayflower Meadows as the winning entry in the contest to rename Halliburton Place
