The contest is open to all residents of Nova Scotia. Multiple submissions are allowed, provided each is unique.  

The name should: 

• Reflect the vision, mission, and values of Nova Scotia Health
• Be inspiring, welcoming, and memorable 
• Represent the local community and culture

Nova Scotia Health’s policy does allow facilities to be named after a person in very special situations. The person being honored must have made an exceptional contribution to:

• health care services (locally or nationally)
• as a professional, staff person or volunteer at the facility, or 
• made a significant gift or donation to the facility

For this contest, names of people will be accepted if all the guidelines have been met and the nomination provides evidence of the person’s exceptional contribution.

A judging panel from Nova Scotia Health will review all submissions and select the winning name based on its reflection of the facility’s mission and community. 

The decision of the Nova Scotia Health judging panel on the new name will be final. The individual who submits the chosen name for the new facility will win $100 and will be recognized at the Grand Opening event. 

If no name from this contest is selected, no prize will be awarded.
