What is Engage4Health?

Engage4Health is an online space that connects the public (Nova Scotians) to conversations and projects within the health system.

It is a place for information sharing, gathering ideas and feedback, sharing opportunities, and making connections.

Engage4Health has a range of engagement tools to gather public input on health-related priorities, policies, programs, and initiatives.

Nova Scotians can access all projects featured on Engage4Health by visiting the Home Page on www.engage4health.ca.

While Engage4Health is a place for you and the health system to connect, we ask that you do not share details about your personal health to protect your privacy.

    What is engagement?

Engagement is any process that involves a broad range of people (public, communities, partners, staff, patients, and families) to:

    • identify and set priorities or direction of programs, policies or services that impact them.
    • contribute to or make decisions that impact them.
    • influence change.
    • assess and evaluate programs, policies, and services that impact them.

    Who is the “health system”?

The health system includes Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health, the Department of Health and Wellness, the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care, the Office of Addictions and Mental Health, and the Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment.

Why is engagement important to the health system?

Engagement allows for conversations with the public, communities, partners, staff, patients, and families.

Engagement creates opportunities for discussion and learning and building stronger relationships between Nova Scotians and the health system.

Nova Scotia has a growing population with evolving demographics, historical contexts, and increasing diversity. It’s important for the health system to engage with communities across the province to create more inclusive programs, policies, and services.

As the health system undergoes transformation towards achieving excellence in health care, the need to engage communities in these actions is crucial.
