What is a Health Equity Framework?
Our Health Equity Framework will be an EDIRA* guide for the health system to better understand and address factors contributing to disparities of health outcomes in Nova Scotia.
It will focus on health system influences that are linked to health inequities, anchored by the social and structural determinants of health.
It will provides a lens and tool for decision-making on health equity in relation to service delivery, programs and operations
It will provide clear, measurable outcomes with indicators/metrics to assess progress
EDIRA* - Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Reconciliation and Accessibility
Why is the Department of Health & Wellness (DHW) doing this survey?
DHW and our health system partners are asking people, groups, and communities across the province to share their experiences with our health system – positive and negative. This will help us know what we need to include in the Health Equity Framework and will help our health system to become more trusted and effective for everyone it serves.
Who will see my responses?
DHW's project team working on the Health Equity Framework will be able to see responses.
We keep all information collected as private and confidential as possible. General findings and identified themes will be shared, but individual responses will remain confidential.
When will the Health Equity Framework be finished?
The Health Equity Framework will be completed in July 2023. You can see the project timelines in the Key Dates section of this website.
